KK Beach

Kahanda Kanda came first, a delightful little boutique hotel occupying a tea plantation by the side of Kogalla Lake, not far from the southern city of Galle. And KK Beach, while it’s certainly capable of standing on its own, is perhaps best thought of as a part of a pair — just fifteen minutes’ drive from Kahanda Kanda, KK Beach sits on the Indian Ocean seaside, overlooking a spectacular stretch of beach less than a half-hour from Galle Fort.

Like its sister, KK Beach is pocket-sized, weighing in at a mere ten rooms and suites. They range from a pair of spacious Deluxe Doubles, with impressive ocean views, to a pair of Penthouse Suites, spanning nearly a hundred square meters. At any size they’re stylishly contemporary even as they’re invitingly traditional, and the comforts are more than up to the task.

KK Beach and Kahanda Kanda are linked by a shuttle service, so you’re welcome to swap hotels for lunch or dinner — both have fine little restaurants serving Sri Lankan fare with a Thai influence. And while both hotels are well placed for tours of Galle Fort or the surrounding countryside, KK Beach’s main draw is (sensibly enough) the beach, as well as the surfing, diving, and sailing opportunities it entails.
