Andaz Shenzhen Bay finds itself in a particularly lively corner of China’s coastal megalopolis, surrounded by brand-new office towers and high-tech headquarters galore. Designer Tony Chi brings a bit of New York style to this outpost of Hyatt’s upscale luxury-boutique brand; the rooms are clean-lined and contemporary, but warmed by old-world touches like leather chairs and marble baths. The views of the city and the bay are impressive, as are the hotel’s facilities — from its 19-meter indoor pool to its twin restaurants, East Room and West Room, named not only for their spatial orientation but for their culinary inspirations as well.
