Dream Midtown
Here it’s possible to hide in plain sight, more or less midway between Times Square and Columbus Circle. The rooms are compact, but not cramped, with plenty of space for a comfortable allergen-free bed and a bathroom with fixtures in Carrara marble, not to mention wi-fi and 40-inch televisions. With a sunny palette and accents in chartreuse and aubergine they’re rooms you’re happy to come home to, and they’re certainly conducive to a decent night’s sleep (along with requisite dreaming).
At least as much energy has been put into the Dream’s new public spaces, from Serafina, the Fellini-inspired restaurant, to The Rickey, a throwback-themed cocktail bar by mixologist Jimmy Swet. The crowning achievement, however, has to be PHD Terrace, twin sister of Dream Downtown’s PHD Rooftop Lounge — here, rain or shine, you’ll take in far-ranging views of Midtown Manhattan while also taking in music by a rotating roster of DJs and drinks by a team of expert bartenders.
