The name means Beach Manor, and Le Manoir de la Plage, located just steps from the water on the Côte Fleurie, is grand indeed — more like a French country estate than a seaside inn. The luxury hotel is rich with antique details, from curving wooden staircases and coffered walls to romantic fireplaces, but the interiors have been fashionably updated in a sleek monochromatic color palette accented with deep shades of green. There are just six guest rooms, all silent and sophisticated with handmade organic mattresses and decorative tile or parquet floors. One features a spacious white marble bathroom, another has original wood-beamed ceilings and views of the ocean. The stone mansion is surrounded by carefully tended gardens that lead directly to the shoreline: chaise lounges positioned beneath flowering trees are the perfect place to doze off after lunch or relax with a book. Have breakfast on the terrace, then arrange a private dip in the indoor swimming pool: charmingly enclosed in wood and glass, it can be booked for one or two people at a time.
