Hotel Telégrafo

416 Paseo de Martí, Havana, Cuba
63 Kamers
Contemporary Classic en Quiet
Built in the late 19th century, and then entirely rebuilt in 1911, Havana’s Hotel Telégrafo was, in its heyday a century ago, something of a legend — not just one of the top hotels in Cuba, but in all of Latin America. And now that tourism in Cuba is once again on the rise, the Telégrafo is once again setting its sights on a global audience.

They’ll love the layers of history that are on display here, from the Colonial-style brick archways of the original structure, still visible in the hotel’s inner courtyard, to the contemporary furniture and modern artworks in the surprisingly up-to-date guest rooms. With just 63 rooms and suites, it’s a modestly sized hotel, and as the room categories top out at the junior suites, it’s a fairly egalitarian one as well.

Meanwhile the Restaurant Telégrafo, situated just off that lovely inner patio, features terrace seating under the old arcade, and serves Cuban and international fare to hotel guests and Havana locals alike. There are bigger, more extravagant hotels in the capital, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after, but for a hotel that’s more charming than bombastic it would be hard to go wrong here.
