Barneville-Carteret is one of Normandy’s most picturesque seaside towns, and the Hôtel La Marine enjoys pride of place, perched right above the waters of the port in a location adjoining the center of town. Its roots go back more than a century but in its present form it’s modern, somewhat minimalist, and tastefully maritime in inspiration; rooms are clean-lined, sunny, and bright, making excellent use of full-length windows. Its most desirable attribute, however, just might be its Michelin-starred restaurant, which is supported by a gourmet food shop catering to guests who wish to take a taste home.
