Villa Baulieu
Its eleven rooms and suites are named for historical figures of local significance, and are decorated in a variety of styles, from Italian and English styles to Napoleon III and Louis XIV and XVI. For all their variety, though, they share their high-end comforts in common, as well as their sheer spaciousness — more pronounced at the top of the range, of course, but notable throughout.
There’s a jacuzzi atop one of the towers, overlooking the gardens and the pool, and massages and spa treatments are available as well. The estate features a tennis court and a boules pitch, as well as a fleet of mountain bikes for exploration. Wine tasting and grape-picking feature heavily among the vineyard-related activities, and tours of local olive oil and chocolate makers can be arranged as well. And, as the involvement of a certain Mr. Ducasse might indicate, the cuisine is a particular focus; there’s nothing so organized as a restaurant, rather a table d’hôte where meals booked in advance are served in the château’s dining room or one of its many other indoor or outdoor spaces.
