Hilton’s Curio label is reserved for unique hotels with a character all their own, to which Hilton adds a healthy dose of professionalism and behind-the-scenes hospitality expertise, without altering the essential personality of the place. Which is how we find a hotel as impressive as Aleph Rome Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton bearing that mouthful of a name.
To put it as simply as possible, the Aleph is among Rome’s grandest and most luxurious lodgings, a proper palace in a city of townhouse hotels. Rooms are spacious, especially in the Prestige category, some of which come with terraces, and the suites are truly vast, ranging from more than fifty to nearly a hundred square meters. Comforts are first-rate, and the interior decoration style is crisp, somewhat minimal — but minimal in that inimitable Italian way that bespeaks elegance rather than austerity.
Downstairs, the Aleph’s lavish underground spa, housed in an antique vault, reveals the original purpose of this one-time bank headquarters. The 1930s Restaurant serves appropriately classic fare in an appropriately classic environment, while Sky Blu is the rooftop trattoria by the poolside. Add the Onyx Bar for cocktails and the Cognac Lounge with its club chairs and fireplace and you’ve got a full-spectrum luxury-hotel experience.
