One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
The historic village of Kapsaliana, built around an old olive mill and surrounded by Crete’s largest olive grove, was all but abandoned in the 1950s. Years later, a local architect discovered the place and transformed it into what it is today: an uncommonly restful and unusually memorable luxury resort by the name of Kapsaliana Village Hotel.

Period charm is everywhere; the village’s 18th-century buildings feature original stone archways and wood-beamed ceilings. The rooms and suites retain these historical elements while updating the spaces for high-end modern travelers. There’s a lovely swimming pool framed by flowers, as well as a lemon tree-shaded cocktail bar on a beautiful stone terrace.

Meanwhile Elaia, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, serves artful farm-to-table fare prepared in an open-air kitchen. Round out the experience with a tasting of local wines, a stroll through the orchard, and a visit to the on-site olive oil museum.
