And for larger parties there’s the three-bedroom Villa Vertigo, complete with a full kitchen and a fire-heated jacuzzi.

Origins’ wellness program incorporates everything from massage and yoga to “energy healing” and “emotional release therapy,” and the appeal of the curvaceous infinity pool is universal. And the lodge’s gastronomic experience is just as carefully considered as everything else about the place: world-renowned chef Jean-Luc L’Hourre is responsible for the menu, which is accompanied by a large and thoughtfully stocked wine cellar.

How to get there:

Origins Luxury Lodge is accessible by car, private helicopter, and chartered flight, all of which can be arranged through the hotel. Helicopter transfer is available from anywhere in Costa Rica to a landing pad just 10 minutes from the property. Transfer from the international airport in Liberia takes about 80 minutes by car.
