The Whiteface Lodge
It’s owned by carpenter-turned-luger-turned-developer Joe Barile, a man who’s clearly no stranger to timbers, snow sports or real estate. Here they all come together in a contemporary version of the Great Camps of the Adirondacks, the upstate wilderness retreats that were the height of luxury in the days before air travel.
Suites at Whiteface are equipped with a bit more than the typical hotel room. Many are privately owned, as is the custom with so many new hotel developments — which means owners’-quality amenities, like fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs and in many cases full kitchens. In this bracket a spa is all but required, and the Whiteface doesn’t disappoint there — and the dining, naturally, is at the same high level, in the Kanu restaurant, one of Lake Placid’s top tables.

everything!! The hotel was the perfect place in the perfect setting!

The atmosphere was relaxed and charming. From the warm lodge architecture, to the amenities like indoor/outdoor pool and nightly bonfire s'mores to the delicious breakfast they served up every morning, we love it all.

It was the best, cozy choice to spend the new year's weekend..spacious rooms, fireplaces etc

We like everything about Whiteface Lodge. Great service - the staff are very efficient and friendly and extremely helpful. Great restaurant food, nice bar area to lounge in, great hot tubs to soak in, a great range of actviites and recreational options although we never seem to make the best use of these, there is never enough time! The spa is good but was disappointed it was closed on Mondays (the day I wanted to use it) and the location is convenient for canadians, just 2 hours from the border :-)
