Girl & the Goat, Chef Stephanie Izard’s West Coast offshoot of her wildly popular Chicago original, has settled comfortably into downtown LA’s Arts District amid Spotify’s sprawling podcast campus. The space remains unmistakably boho chic, filled with natural light, linen-toned textures and plenty of greenery, while the perpetually buzzing crowd keeps the energy high from lunch through dinner. Diners come for the chef’s signature style of globally influenced, boldly flavored small plates, ranging from chickpea fritters with goat yogurt, tamarind and herb chutney to wood-fired broccoli topped with shrimp crunch and blue cheese labneh. Larger dishes like goat curry with masa chips and pickled vegetables or grilled kalbi-style short ribs with stone fruit and perilla vinaigrette continue the eclectic theme. Desserts remain just as playful, especially the mango sticky rice with tamarind sorbet, coconut cloud and watermelon granita.
