Stepping into La Mamounia means entering a legend: a place that has witnessed Morocco’s history, seamlessly blending respect for tradition, flawless service, and modern comforts.
In celebration of its centenary, a significant restoration has completely revitalized the public areas: the reception, the Mamounia Gallery, the Majorelle Bar, and the extraordinary Centenary Chandelier. A tribute to traditional Berber jewellery, this monumental sculpture of light evokes two necklaces suspended in space.
Upon arrival, guests are welcomed into cozy alcoves to enjoy traditional drinks and sweets before being escorted to their rooms: true gems of elegance, sumptuous but never excessive.
The services at La Mamounia are numerous and meticulously curated: three restaurants (Le Marocain, L'Italien et L'Asiatique — the latter two overseen by the award-winning chef Jean-Georges); Pierre Hermé’s signature pastry shop; a vast spa; two bars (the intimate Churchill Bar and the livelier Majorelle Bar, which still features the ceiling decorated by Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s); a dedicated cinema room and a wine cellar.
Crowning it all are more than 17 acres of centuries-old gardens: olive trees, orange trees, palms, flowering beds, shaded walkways, and vegetable gardens that supply the hotel’s kitchens. The park is the direct descendant of the wedding gift given in the 18th century by Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah to his son Moulay Mamoun — after whom the hotel was named when it opened in 1923.
