It’s harder than you might think to fully immerse yourself in nature anywhere near the megalopolis that is the San Francisco Bay Area, and those places where you can, like Marin County, do their best to keep the impact of tourism to a minimum. Point Reyes, for example, is less than two hours from San Francisco, and is surrounded by some truly wild landscapes and seascapes. But it’s got relatively little in the way of lodging — which means that the renovation of a 24-room lodge like Olema House is big news.
The hotel has retained its distinctive turn-of-the-century architecture, but it’s been decorated with a contemporary eye, bringing a bit of boutique style to a setting that’s as pastoral as it gets.
