El contenido en español no está disponible aún. Apartment-sharing was supposed to kill hotels. But in the end the most creative hoteliers learned lessons from the apartment-sharing trend, and supplemented them with what they do best: professional hospitality. It’s led to a resurgence of urban bed and breakfasts, hotels with residential charm and character to spare, along with boutique-hotel style and service. Hotels like Mexico City’s Chaya Bed & Breakfast Boutique.
The location could hardly be more central — it’s in the heart of downtown Mexico City, facing the Alameda Central park. But for all the activity outside, Chaya could hardly be more tranquil. It occupies the upper floors of a renovated building, with two restaurants, a mezcal bar, an ice cream shop and a café on the ground floor. And once you’re upstairs you’ll find the rooms and suites are surprisingly stylish, in an industrial style with plenty of raw concrete that’s offset against warm wood textures and plush king beds.
Breakfast is served daily — it’s right there in the name, after all — and includes made-to-order Mexican classics alongside continental options. It’s certainly not an old-fashioned bed and breakfast, but nor is it an ordinary hotel. This may not be the last you see of the Bed & Breakfast Boutique concept.
