A welcoming mountain hotel with a focus on sustainability is the setting for this bright and lively restaurant which, at lunchtime, serves local traditional dishes inspired by the recipes of Marija Plesnika, who cooked here in the 1940s. In the evening, on the other hand, guests are served a tasting menu which is available only by booking ahead for anyone not staying at the hotel. In the kitchen, experienced Janez Bratovž, renowned for his work at the JB Restavracija in Ljubljana, is here in an advisory role, while the talented young Tom Čopar who has experience both in Slovenia and abroad is the resident chef. We particularly enjoyed the Štruklji (dumplings) filled with cheese and lovage (the latter is sourced from the hotel’s own garden).

"In a picture-postcard setting, love and respect for the Slovenian Alps – particularly the Logar Valley – are reflected in numerous initiatives. These include taking part in community projects related to nature and environmental education, such as Flora & Photo Walk and Wildlife Photo Hunting. The restaurant’s pantry is also stocked with seasonal and local ingredients, some grown on-site, while others – such as freshwater fish – are sourced from the best local farmers in the area."
