Contemporary Classic & Lively
Stockholm is known as one of the capitals of Scandinavian design, so it’s no surprise that Stockholm Stadshotell oozes effortless cool. It took a whole roster of creatives to sensitively revive the hotel’s historic home, a late 19th century Stockholm landmark which originally paid homage to King Oscar I. It’s now a celebration of craftmanship, with minimalist rooms stylishly outfitted by the city’s top designers, from the bespoke burl wood headboards right down to the retro radios. The two restaurants, one housed in the building’s former chapel, shine a light on local ingredients and Nordic flavors with daily changing dishes that come summer, can be enjoyed al fresco in the courtyard. And to suit the Swedish temperatures all year round, there’s also a traditional Scandinavian sauna and cold plunge.
