Rarely has the concept “more than the sum of its parts” been demonstrated so clearly in the world of hospitality. Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain, in the Left Bank district of Saint-Germain, is stitched together from three smaller hotels, preserving the identity of the three distinct buildings while connecting their interiors and redesigning them in a style that pays tribute to their 19th-century genesis.
The look is eclectic-chic, eschewing both glossy minimalism and ostentatious luxury, opting instead for a residential sort of coziness. Styles vary from classic neutrals to bolder, more vibrant patterns, but all feel unified. The rooms are spacious, at least in Parisian hotel terms, and they’re comfortable as well, with plush bedding, fine fabrics, and custom bath products by Codage.
A gym, spa, plunge pool and hammam are a nice surprise for a Parisian hotel of this size. So too is Les Parisiens, the restaurant, and the James Joyce bar. They’re as much a neighborhood fixture as they are a service for guests, which means Pavillon Faubourg Saint-Germain feels like an authentic part of the city — and that, for an urban boutique hotel, is what it’s all about.
