Contemporary Classic & Quiet
The Phi Phi Islands are barely a blip on the map between the Thai mainland and Phuket. Despite their tiny size and the relatively recent development of tourism activity, it is believed that in ancient history one of the oldest human settlements in Thailand could be found here. Not a bad move on the part of prehistoric man — the Phi Phi islands are stunningly beautiful, with incredible beaches, limestone cliffs and mangrove forests.
Zeavola represents the high end of Phi Phi. Located near the outlying, northernmost tip of the already remote island, guests are treated to luxurious accommodations within an unpretentious compound of thatched-roofed, teakwood structures. All of Zeavola’s rooms are either suites or villas, with a considerable amount of private space, indoor and outdoor, in which to stretch out afforded to both types. Verandas, outdoor showers, draped mosquito netting and natural landscaping are some of the little details that make for an authentic setting and experience. This is to say nothing of the full-service spa and two fine restaurants on the premises that one might otherwise expect; both adhere to a standard of service that is anything but expected.
The hotel provides an array of services to help you explore the island and environs, including scuba and fishing excursions. To up the fantasy ante, you can also take a jaunt out to the nearby James Bond Island, recognizable as the craggy backdrop from ‘Man with the Golden Gun’, later returning to your villa for a massage in your private garden and an in-room Thai barbeque banquet, shaken martinis optional. This may all trump the Phi Phi experience of the prehistoric peoples who originally settled here, but it goes to show that they were onto something good.
