Zakynthos may not be quite as highly touted a destination as some other Greek islands, but it’s certainly not because it lacks any of the attributes that are essential to the form. Spectacular, impossibly blue seascapes are all you need, with distant islands looming on the horizon. Infinity pools certainly help, and if you’re in the mood for romance — or just quiet contemplation — it also doesn’t hurt a bit that Lesante Blu Exclusive Beach Resort is an adults-only hotel.

With 92 suites, it’s bigger than it feels, but it’s never crowded — again, thank that adults-only policy. The exteriors and interiors make liberal use of classic Greek-isle white and cream — why abandon a successful formula? Even the entry-level suites are plenty comfortable, with balconies and direct views of the Ionian Sea, and from there you can add a jacuzzi or even a plunge pool.

An absolutely stunning spa and a vast infinity pool provide ample opportunity for relaxation, as does the hotel’s small but lovely beach club. Meanwhile a trio of restaurants — Melia, the fine-dining option, Gaia, the more casual, and Ostria, the all-day poolside restaurant and bar — see to guests’ gustatory needs, while the Almyra Beach Bar and the Panorama Champagne Bar hardly need elaboration.
