In Tallinn’s Old Town, one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities, the oldest structures date back to the 13th century — including a limestone fortification wall that runs right through Nunne Boutique Hotel. Its shooting apertures are still visible while strolling down the hotel’s hallways, and while this pretty corner building is considerably newer, the hotel feels like the perfect blend of historic and modern. Rooms are simple and elegant, with pale oak parquet flooring, handmade wool rugs, and furnishings made by Estonian artisans. Attic-like rooms on the uppermost level, though compact in size, are especially charming, while courtyard-facing suites feature large-scale works by local artists and spacious black-and-white tiled bathrooms with soaking tubs.
