Surrounded by 17 acres of Kent woodland, The Beacon sits above what was once known as Happy Valley, a hillside of spring-fed lakes and pleasure gardens that drew visitors in the 18th century. Built in the 1890s, the house later sheltered Basque refugees and Jewish children during the war before becoming a disco, a pub, and eventually a family home.
