The Roseate New Delhi

50 Rooms
Modern Design & Lively
As with many cultural signifiers, “airport hotel” doesn’t mean quite the same thing in New Delhi as it does elsewhere. Rightly so: business travelers are pragmatic folks, by and large, and many come here with a full day’s transit behind them already. In any case, they’re the perfect guest — frequent, short-term stays develop nothing so much as a finely calibrated gauge for difference-making details. In this context we welcome the Roseate New Delhi to the thriving hospitality community encircling Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The 50 rooms spread out, their full-length windows and domed ceilings working in tandem to open the interiors to the sky. The bathrooms, in marble, are no less luxurious — a rain shower does wonders to restore one’s equilibrium. The staff, subdued but hyper-competent, offers private, 24-hour service to fulfill any needs that might arise.
But why take meals in your room with two restaurants available? Kiran, regally refined in Isfahan columns, plates pan-Eurasian cuisine with an admirable focus on free-range and organic ingredients. Or try the Chinese specialties at Chi Ni (“to eat”), availing yourself of the al fresco dining option in season. Finish — or start, we’re not prudes — at Iah, the crimson, curvilinear bar space with signature cocktails, a cigar menu, and live piano to set the mood.
This being a Roseate production, a few trademarks round out the picture: a sumptuous spa with natural products, an outdoor pool, a retail outlet with accessories in traditional textiles. Reception outdoes itself to arrange for a moonlit dinner or a Bollywood-themed escapade at your request. But for the element most unlike an airplane or a board room, plant yourself in the immaculately landscaped gardens and breathe in the welcome, uncrowded silence.
