Aside from the name, if there’s anything at all English about Henry’s House it’s the sheer overstuffed abundance of its eclectic, charmingly mismatched décor. From its elevated location at the southern end of Ortigia, the island at the heart of Siracusa’s old town, this 19th-century villa takes in impressive views of the bay, and the dominant aesthetic is pure Baroque Sicily, with furnishings and tiles by local craftsmen. Occasional boutique-hotel gestures like L’Occitane bath products remind you that this is a professional operation, and while there’s no restaurant, there is an impressive daily breakfast service.
