Rosewood hotels are always luxurious, but rarely are they architectural statements on the level of the Rosewood Sao Paulo. A historic mid-century maternity hospital forms its basis, but it’s no simple restoration: the interiors are by Philippe Starck, who doesn’t do retro, and a new tower by architect Jean Nouvel, clad entirely in overlapping garden trellises, adds a very modern counterpoint. There’s an adults-only rooftop pool and bar, as well as a dedicated kids’ program; four dining venues span the range from light fare in the garden courtyard to an upscale South American menu at Taraz.
