If you crave authentic Southern Thai food, you’ll love this homey restaurant, which draws crowds to an otherwise unremarkable setting on Sunset. Chefs Noree Pla and Fern Kaewtathip spare no detail in rendering the cuisine of their native Phuket, concocting dishes rarely seen on American menus, including tai pla (a fish organ curry) or jungle curry with chicken feet.
Even if you’re not ready for such adventurous food, there’s still a lot to enjoy here. Noodle soups are a specialty, with zeed (featuring a pho-like clear broth with three kinds of pork) being a standout. There’s also the Southern Thai fried chicken with sticky rice as well as a yellow fish curry. Cool down the spice with a homemade pudding in flavors like Thai tea, durian or Ovaltine.
