The Phoenicia Malta
The location, at the edge of Valletta’s old fortified city center, is a prestigious one, and a convenient one as well — most anything you’d wish to see or do is a short walk away. Once inside, though, you’re transported from the medieval city walls to the early 20th century, arguably the golden age of British luxury hospitality. And while the atmosphere is classic, the finishes are quite up to date — the Phoenicia looks as new today as it must have looked on the day it opened nearly a century ago.
Rooms retain many of their original architectural features, along with an updated, more contemporary look, and all the expected modern luxuries.
The elegant restaurant Contessa and the Beefbar in the City (delight for carnivores) anchor the hotel’s social life, along with the Palm Court Lounge with its afternoon tea service, the Club Bar with its classic cocktails, and the Bastion Pool Bar, with the Phoenicia’s most surprising feature: an infinity pool with a view of the harbor.

personnel du restaurant agréable, personnel de la réception pas accueillant limite antipathique, concierge pas à la hauteur de notre attente vu le niveau de l'hôtel.( taxi réservé et confirmé pour notre arrivée tardive, mais pas présent à l'aéroport !) beaux jardins et situation insolite de la piscine, peu profonde mais très originale.
This is a lovely hotel, in a great location -- overlooking beautiful views of Valletta. It is old-style in its large spaces, but freshly updated. The pool is stunning but even the Brits who were there at the time thought it was really cold. That was too bad! But the infinity pool, overlooking part of the harbor, right next to a fortification wall and arrived at by meandering through lovely gardens was really a bonus. The menu has good options, the service is very good and the concierge staff is excellent.
Very well located, comfortable, clean, thoughtfully appointed, pleasant views, easy walking distance to nearly everything in Valletta.
