Modern Design & Lively
The first of the Israeli-based Brown hotels to open in Greece, Brown Acropol aims to recreate a very specific vision of Athens: not the classical history for which the city is most famous so much as the high modernism and hedonistic glamour of the swinging Sixties and Seventies. It begins with the building, a mid-century classic by modernist architect Emmanuel Vourekas, and the interiors, by the contemporary design agency K-Studio, use vintage and vintage-inspired elements to celebrate the era of the building’s construction.

At the same time, Brown Acropol is a modern boutique hotel, whose rooms are as comfortable as they are visually composed. All but the most basic single rooms feature record players and Nespresso machines, and the suites are positively lavish. Meanwhile the lobby bar with its library is joined by a new rooftop garden restaurant and bar with a view of the Parthenon.

Brown Acropol’s Omonia Square neighborhood is a present-day commercial center, but as you may have guessed based on the hotel’s name (or the view from the rooftop), it’s also close by to the Acropolis, as well as plenty of other sites of cultural significance — in Athens the past is never far away.
