Maison Albar Hotel Paris Champs-Elysees

Modern Design & Lively
Paris, perhaps more than any other city, is full of hotels that are devoted to preserving the city’s history. So it’s refreshing to come across a place like the Maison Albar Hotel Paris Champs-Élysées. On the one hand, it’s a loving restoration of an elegant Haussmannian building, bringing what was a relatively humble hotel up to the modern luxury standard. But it’s more than a museum piece; the interiors are a vibrant mix of 19th-century Empire style and absolutely contemporary 21st-century interior design.

This means bold colors, graphic art, unusual materials and finishes, and a color palette that’s unmistakably modern. It’s a postmodern fantasy version of classic Parisian glamour, and it’s unforgettable. Paris being what it is, the rooms aren’t exactly enormous, but they’re more than comfortable enough, and little touches like Nespresso machines and 40-inch flat screens go a long way.

So does the restaurant. Le Noham Café’s terrace happens to have a view of a little landmark called the Arc de Triomphe, and its lounge bar is an all-day option for a bit of social life. It’s a rare thing in Paris to find a proper luxury hotel on such an intimate scale, but the Maison Albar Paris Champs-Élysées hits the spot.
