Modern Cuisine, Asian
Kiku means chrysanthemum – the Japanese national flower – and, indeed, the cuisine here is strongly marked by Japanese elements. Influences from other Asian countries, as well as the odd subtle touch of classic French cookery, can also be detected. The menu features dishes such as bluefin tuna with misato rose radish and tomato ponzu, and hibachi steak with pumpkin and hoisin. The restaurant is located in a tastefully restored historical building in a small street lined with half-timbered façades, not far from the city centre. Inside, the atmosphere is laid back and elegant, and there is a secluded terrace in the courtyard. The service is friendly and informal – the charming chefs also come to your table to talk you through their dishes. The best way to get to know the food is to opt for the nine-course set menu, but there is also an appealing à la carte menu. The short yet carefully curated wine list complements the food perfectly, and most wines are available by the glass. Tip: Just upstairs from the restaurant, Anno 1560 offers cosy and stylish apartments.
