Modern Design & Lively
There are several fine places to stay in the historic center of Cáceres, though perhaps none as striking as Casa Palacio Paredes Saavedra. The petite 15th-century palace was thoughtfully restored by acclaimed Spanish architects Tuñón y Albornoz, and the result is dazzling: the building’s original vaulted ceilings and arching doorways remain, but the stone walls are overlaid with pale wood, and the floors with polished concrete, giving the interiors an ethereal glow. The beautifully illuminated central courtyard evokes the city’s old-world charm, while upstairs, the hotel’s suites are cool and minimalist. The residential concept means no pool, gym, or spa on the premises, but there is a restaurant of some distinction: the three-MICHELIN-Star Atrio.
