The island’s gorgeous beaches and rich cultural history form the backdrop for Argini Syros, a 19th-century private residence that’s been transformed into a magnificent 11-room luxury boutique hotel.
It’s set in the historic center of Ermoupoli — the city of Hermes — and, though restored and renovated, retains its neoclassical architectural style. What’s inside is suitably ornate as well, though with complementary modern gestures — sleek design furniture and modern marble bathrooms share space with frescoed ceilings.
In spite of its small size, Argini Syros offers some impressive luxuries, most notably its spa, with its indoor pool and hammam. The restaurant, Elexis, opens onto the central courtyard, while the rooftop bar offers views of the hillside city and the sea.
