Une Clef MICHELIN · Un séjour singulier
The original Chablé Resort & Spa wasn’t lacking anything, strictly speaking — it’s hard to go wrong with a luxe-yet-tasteful luxury resort with a wellness focus and plenty of environmental and cultural sensitivity. But its location deep in the Yucatán jungle necessarily left beachgoing types without an outlet for that particular urge. A single hotel can’t have everything, of course, but the second Chablé hotel goes where the first one couldn’t: namely, Punta Maroma, on the Riviera Maya just to the north of Playa del Carmen.
Chablé Maroma, seaside setting aside, picks up where its sister left off, with luxurious freestanding villas, an inspired mix of handmade, artisanal charm — with traditional stone and wood exterior construction — and plush, modern boutique luxury. Each one comes with a private terrace and plunge pool, and seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. Which is handy, given that you’re just a few steps away from two hundred yards of private Caribbean beach.
Also included in the Chablé package is a suitably lavish spa, featuring treatments tailored to the setting, paying tribute to the local Maya culture. And the cuisine, similarly, adapts itself to the Riviera Maya — acclaimed Mexico City chef Jorge Vallejo is in a coastal mood here, serving clams, ceviche, and other Yucatán-influenced flavors.
