Sensei Lanai, A Four Seasons Resort isn’t the typical Hawaiian island getaway. For one thing, it’s set in the middle of this arid island, as far from the beach as you can get. All the better for the restorative, slightly ascetic mission of the Sensei brand — more than a spa, it includes classes, expeditions, nutrition, and wellness consultations under the umbrella of “well-being.” At the same time, it’s as luxurious as any Four Seasons, if not more so; the restaurant is a partnership with Nobu, and the accommodations, however visually sparse they may be, are as plush as anything on Earth.
