Modern Design & Lively
Most of Accor’s quasi-independent MGallery luxury hotels come with an extra helping of personality, but Hotel Royal Hoi An’s is unusually romantic. Its architecture and design take inspiration from the story of a Japanese merchant and a Vietnamese aristocrat who met and fell in love in Hoi An, a major trade hub, in the late 1600s. This riverside luxury hotel, fittingly, is divided into two wings: one is Japanese in style, with rich dark wood, glowing lanterns, and the city’s highest pool bar, and the other, with lavish drapery and an Art Nouveau-inspired swimming pool, is more traditionally Vietnamese.

On both sides, guest rooms are regal, with four-poster beds, silk brocade pillows, velvet sofas, and free-standing tubs — and they’re also equipped with all the subtly high-tech comforts you’d expect from a hotel of the Royal Hoi An’s caliber. Also present is a spa complete with a steam room, a sauna, and a fitness center; the restaurants and bars, as you might imagine, include both Vietnamese and Japanese outlets, as well as a rooftop lounge with a spectacular view of the Thu Bon river and the UNESCO-listed historic city center.
