The name, O Filho da Mãe (“The Mother’s Son”), is a tribute to the owner’s mother — as one might guess! This tiny, cosy spot was meticulously designed by the owner himself, after leaving the fields of art and architecture to pursue his new passion: gastronomy. Set on a picturesque street in Braga, near the city’s historic quarter, the restaurant provides an innovative menu inspired by South America, truly paying homage to tropical flavours. Dishes featuring fresh fish, such as the raw sea bass with aguachile and cucumber, or the bao filled with tilapia fillet, tartar sauce and a refreshing lime twist, are some of the stars of the show on the menu. There are also options of fresh pasta and tempting desserts, such as the unmissable brownie with salted caramel and pecan nuts!
