But if you’re picturing a blissful desert-island paradise, think again. Hua Hin is on the mainland, positioned on the edge of the Gulf of Thailand in the southern province of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Convenient, as you don’t have to board an extra plane to get there. But this is no get-away-from-it-all escape. These days, it’s a proper city, with everything — fine dining and a bustling night market within easy proximity, for instance — that entails.
Check into Putahracsa Hua Hin, however, and you’ll certainly feel like you’re living in a stylish tropical fantasy. The hotel is relatively small, as resorts go, with just 67 rooms and suites. Each is a sleek refuge, the design modeled after the look of sixties-era motel architecture. Translation: standard rooms are housed in a two-story building that surrounds the pool.
