Putahracsa Hua Hin
Check into Putahracsa Hua Hin, however, and you’ll certainly feel like you’re living in a stylish tropical fantasy. The hotel is relatively small, as resorts go, with just 67 rooms and suites. Each is a sleek refuge, the design modeled after the look of sixties-era motel architecture. Translation: standard rooms are housed in a two-story building that surrounds the pool. Equal opportunity access to the main attraction, in other words, though the pool, in this case, isn’t just a place to cool off, it’s an infinity pool surrounded by daybeds where you might be tempted to lounge all afternoon with a book and a cold drink or two.
In keeping with the motel theme, guest rooms are laid out in the conventional rectangular shape. All have outdoor terraces with cushioned lounge chairs or day beds, and many overlook the central pool. Interiors are minimalist, outfitted almost entirely in white and earth tones. Bathrooms all have soaking tubs or rain showers. Other standard amenities range from satellite TV and free wi-fi to in-room Nespresso machines. Splash out on a private villa and you’ll get a good deal more than that at Putahracsa Hua Hin, including a private butler and your own plunge pool — though you’d be sacrificing, alas, your chance to stay in the hip Thai version of a traditional motel room.
There’s a day spa and a fantastic oceanfront bar, so there’s plenty of reason to hide out at the resort. Should you wish to venture into town, the hotel’s very own tuk-tuk is ready to take you anywhere you want to go, including the small but famous night market — bring your appetite, and your camera.
