The Drôme is just outside of Provence, between Avignon and Lyon, and it’s in this unique landscape, reminiscent of both the Mediterranean and the interior, that you’ll find La Grande Maison. It’s a splendid 19th-century building, restored by its architect former owners, now in the hands of a pair of married couples who are free to focus on hospitality. The five rooms include two that can accommodate families; all are contemporary and full of both color and character. There’s a lovely pool, as well as a fine organic breakfast, as well as dinner table d’hôtes style three nights a week.
