Castello di Guarene
Of course, while the castle’s atmosphere may be antique, its comforts are contemporary; in among the silk and velvet tapestries are contemporary niceties like LED televisions and wireless internet access. The restaurant, with its vaulted ceilings, is another memorable space, and the cuisine, under the direction of chef Gabriele Boffa, a Guarene local, is more than worthy of its surroundings — not only are the ingredients and recipes of the surrounding landscape put to fine and inventive use here, but the wine cellar contains an encyclopedic collection of rare vintages from Piedmont and beyond.
