The Côte Bleue and the Côte d’Azur are geographically distinct, on either side of Marseille; we hope their respective tourism authorities will forgive us for saying that the experiences they offer to travelers are more similar than they are different. Bleu Hôtel & Spa, overlooking the marina in Carry-le-Rouet, is just as stylish a seaside idyll as you’d find farther east — with the added benefit of being something of a hidden gem.
It’s no surprise that the interiors are decked out in crisp blue and white; rooms are called “cabins,” less as a comment on their size than to emphasize the maritime connection, and they’re joined at the high end by suites that span some 44 square meters. All are chic and warm, and all have views of the port and the sea. Among the added inducements are the Spa Bleu by Phytomer, the Bar Le Nina, and the gourmet restaurant L’Oursin.
