Lima isn’t always mentioned in the same breath as Berlin and Amsterdam, but it’s here that the Nhow brand chose to establish its first hotel in the Americas. The location in Miraflores is a fine one, prominent and central, and the building is a distinctive modern one, its translucent surface lit softly from within. Inside, any thought of minimalism is quickly banished; the colors are riotous, the Inca-inspired artworks and design motifs are bold, and the spaces are richly varied. This Technicolor sensibility is something of a Nhow trademark, and it’s well suited to this lively, intensely localized boutique hotel.

Even the entry-level rooms are generously sized and comfortably appointed with the full array of boutique-hotel must-haves; the suites quickly expand to opulent proportions, and the penthouse comes with a hot tub and a sauna, alongside what might be the best view in town. The hotel’s liveliness extends, naturally, to its public spaces, from a restaurant specializing in the flavors of the Amazon to the 13th-floor pool bar, which transitions from a sedate daytime gathering space to a vibrant club-like setting by night.
