South Andros is less traveled than some other Bahamian islands; it’s no wonder Caerula Mar Club drew some attention when it opened in 2020, as it was the first new opening on the island in decades. And there’s no question that the property’s present-day iteration is stylish — clean lines, earthy hues, bright white umbrellas around a sparking aquamarine pool with sweeping views of the Caribbean just beyond.
Caerula Mar Club sits on an idyllic white sand beach, and the vibe is barefoot luxury, with perhaps slight emphasis on the latter. Rooms feature supple white oak flooring, marble stone accents, and open-plan layouts with huge glass doors opening onto private decks with ocean views. Some have four-poster beds and oversized walk-in showers, while others feature vaulted white ceilings and midcentury modern furnishings. Spacious villas, shaped from the old hotel’s cottages, come with charming wooden porches and multiple bedrooms.
Breakfast is served at a casual but chic café and smoothie bar, or in the more formal Lusca, with views of the pool and the sea. But the airy beach bar is a highlight throughout the day, perfect for a lunch break on the sand or sunset cocktails following an afternoon out bonefishing, sailing, or snorkeling.
