It's hard to believe from its sleek modern exterior, but Maison Hotel Bangkok takes its inspiration from the classic Thai novel Plae Kao, a Romeo-and-Juliet-like novel set partly to the backdrop of 1930s Bangkok. To nod to this calmer Bangkok of the past, contemporary minimalist rooms have been designed to offer a sanctuary from the buzz of the modern-day Bangkok, while the verdant garden surrounding the poolside terrace nods to a slower way of Thai life found by the country’s historically significant canals. The four restaurants include Saan Somtum Bar for Thai street food, and Yardbird for all day coffee and pastries. Other facilities include a gym, yoga studio, and the Bulann Moonlight Spa, which is rooted in traditional Thai treatments and massage techniques. And if you’re traveling with children, the Kid’s Club is kitted out with ball pits and slides for supervised playtime.
