Built into the ruins of a 1907 railway station, The Chedi Hegra is the only hotel within Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its rooms are full of textures: stone walls, arched thresholds, leather-bound lamps, opening onto terraces that face the desert. A restored steam engine anchors the restaurant, while a shimmering metal canopy follows the old tracks like a mirage. With the Nabataean tombs just minutes away, and silence as the loudest luxury, this is AlUla at its most elemental and rare.
