Occupying a thoughtfully restored 19th-century building in Old Tbilisi, Sandali Metekhi is everything an urban boutique hotel should be. It’s perfectly located on the edge of the Mtkvari River in one of the oldest neighborhoods in town, an ideal base for exploring the city. Inside and out, it’s stylistically grounded in its place — Tbilisi was famously a key stop on the Silk Road, and the hotel’s design incorporates influences from far and wide.

Rooms are eclectic with elegant coffered walls, Art Deco-inspired headboards, Moorish archways, and geometric patterns reminiscent of Islamic art. All rooms have private balconies, and some have freestanding tubs either outside or beside the bed. One suite, with a transparent tub and glass floor elevated just above the flowing river below, might be the most unique hotel room in town. Sealing the deal are a traditional Georgian breakfast and a rooftop terrace with expansive views over the city and the hills beyond.
