Steps from the North Sea in the resort town of Knokke-Heist, Hotel La Réserve hosted a high society crowd in its mid-century heyday — past guests include Frank Sinatra, René Magritte, and Brigitte Bardot. The landmark reopened in 2023 following a design overhaul by the celebrated Belgian architect Glenn Sestig.
The updated look mixes modern minimalism and 1930s-era grandeur: the light-filled interiors are open and airy, outfitted in sleek eucalyptus and onyx marble, and the Art Deco-style bar, with its opulent crystal wall sconces and red velvet banquettes, is a glamorous spot for drinks and people-watching. Quiet luxury is a guiding principle in rooms with plush king-sized beds, earth-toned decor, sophisticated lighting systems, and spacious bathrooms with tubs and rain showers; upper-level suites feature separate living rooms with water views.
