The Potlatch Club was something of a mid-century celebrity haunt, a small and intimate escape on the island of Eleuthera where big names and other in-the-know travelers could enjoy the fruits of small-scale luxury hospitality. Its first golden age didn’t last forever — they rarely do — but in its new incarnation, under its new ownership, the Potlatch Club is poised to recapture the magic.
11 suites, cottages, and villas on 12 acres of land is, after all, a highly favorable ratio, and the atmosphere, as a result, can’t help but stay tranquil. The renovations have been uniformly stylish, preserving some of the old property’s best-loved features while updating the rest in a style that’s harmonious with the original. Kitchenettes or full kitchens are universal, but by no means necessary, as the Fig Tree restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and private meals are available en suite or on the beach.
There’s a spa featuring Natura Bissé products alongside a well-equipped gym, and the aquatic activities range from paddle boarding and kayaking to snorkelling, fishing, and sunset cruises. All this a mere 20-minute drive from Governor’s Harbour, with its international airport.
