The first Park Hyatt in the world opened on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile in 1980 — and several decades and multiple rounds of renovations later, it’s still a standout in the brand’s wide-ranging collection. The latest iteration is art-focused, a nod to the hotel’s location across the street from the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the best rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the dazzling expanse of Lake Michigan.

The interiors are what you’d expect — sleek and modern with neutral colors and dark wood accents, luxurious king-sized beds, spa-like bathrooms with Le Labo products — unless you spring for a wellness-themed room with a Peloton bike and a minibar stocked with fresh-pressed juices, or an opulent apartment-sized suite with a private open-air terrace.
