Whilst you can just visit the historic Chatsworth Estate as a day tripper, staying awhile at The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow allows some time for exploring more of the estate’s 1,000 plus acres, and for taking in the beauty of the Peak District. Guest rooms and suites all come with a verdant view of the estate and put a contemporary riff on its rich heritage with traditional four poster beds, stone fireplaces, and rustic beams mixed in with block colors and stripes for a fresh country chic style. To pay homage to the region’s craftsmanship, textiles have been locally woven in Derbyshire, and the glazed ceramic bedside lamps have made by a member of the Chatsworth team.

Similarly, the Gallery Restaurant celebrates the Derbyshire terroir and British tradition with a menu of elevated classics, afternoon tea, and Sunday roasts that highlight the region’s best produce, including meat and vegetables from the Chatsworth Estate. This is also where to find some of the best views of the seemingly never-ending rolling countryside, especially from the outdoor terrace, or cozy up in the 1950s-style bar. Guests are also welcome at Chatsworth Health Club, equipped with a gym, pool, and tennis and netball courts.
