Three Stars: Exceptional cuisine
Upon arriving at Via Stella, the restaurant sheds many trappings and accolades in favor of a sober, contemporary elegance, highlighted by the impressive artworks that Massimo Bottura, a passionate collector, displays. This sense of understatement is also reflected in the cuisine, where greatness translates into restraint, control, and mastery, alongside a grand vision that starts from Modena and Emilia – featuring essentials such as Parmigiano Reggiano, balsamic vinegar, tagliatelle, and tortellini – and reaches international classics, which the chef playfully reinterprets to remind diners that food is not a boring ritual but fun, memory, and culture. The most innovative tasting menu, Miseria e Nobiltà, inspired by Eduardo De Filippo’s famous work, offers a journey through essential resources and a great appreciation of the ingredients. Among the new dishes is the Jazz Duck: duck prepared in various ways to highlight every part, along with duck fat-glazed panettone. While the wine list features many renowned selections, it also includes lesser-known labels, a result of seeking out small producers with unique stories to tell.
